PREPARING THE WAY FOR GOD John the brother of Jesus

When we learn of a John the Baptist figure as in the New Testament book of Matthew 3: 1-12. John the Baptist was the son of Elizabeth, the cousin of Mary, mother of Jesus. His father, Zacharias was a priest of the group Abijah served in the temple. In Catholicism, John symbolized by a hermit dressed in fleece being preached and biting with a lamb and date of commemoration is 24 June and 29 August. John the Baptist was given the title because of his work that is baptizing the children of Israel to prepare for the coming of the Lord Jesus. After Jesus, disputing the age of 6 months with John, aged 30 years and would begin His ministry, He came to John to be baptized.
Refresh, Refresh my people, says your God, reassure the heart of Jerusalem, and cry unto Him, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the hand of the LORD (YHWH) double for all her sins.
There is a voice cries: "In the wilderness prepare the way of YHWH, make straight in the desert a highway for our God!Every valley shall be closed, and every mountain and hill and flattened; land is hilly land should be flat, and the soil becomes grooved valleys YHWH glory will be revealed and all flesh shall see it together; indeed, YHWH himself has said it. "

O Zion, bearer of good news, come up to the high mountain! O Jerusalem, bearer of good news, nyaringkanlah up, be not afraid! Say unto the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!" Behold, the Lord GOD, He came to power, and with his hand he came to power. Look, those who became his wage labor was with him, and those who acquired him walking in front of him. As a shepherd He was tending his flocks and menghimpunkannya with his hand; lambs lap of his mother-a sheep led him carefully (Yes 40:1-5,9-11).
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 85:9-14; Second Reading: 2 Pet 3:8-14; Reading Gospel: Mark 1:1-8
About 500 years before the coming of the Son of God as Jesus of Nazareth, a prophet wrote about the expected Messiah expect his coming. The words were uttered tells of the arrival of a moment in which all of Israel's sins will be forgiven and the time when distress and suffering for Jerusalem will pass. It is a message of the coming of peace and comfort. A message of restoration and hope.
A little picture of us that the figure of John the Baptist was the messenger of the Lord to prepare the way for Jesus Christ. Why arrival and ministry of Jesus Christ, prepared in advance by God through John the Baptist? Little picture. In 2012 the President of the USA "Barack Obama" made a state visit to Indonesia for 2 days interrupted during the summit of the G7. Before the arrival of "Barack Obama" a special team to come from the USA a few months before the visit takes place. Preparation of safety, material etc.. Likewise for Indonesia (host) occupied by the President of the USA trip to Indonesia.

Who is John the Baptist, that Jesus praised him as "a man greater among all those born of women". Ages birth of John the Baptist When: Birth to one early sign that the Lord is pleased to return his people. After nearly 400 years since the time of Malachi, God stopped speaking through His prophets that make Israel's very sad and lost hope. Plus more a harsh reality, Israel must fall into the hands of the Roman Empire who hated the worship of gods than the gods of Olympus. An extraordinary act of God when Zechariah (father), and Elisabeth was old and barren lose hope, God showed mercy by sending a son. As if not believe, Zechariah knees and praise God for his over his actions (Luke 1:67-80). His name, John has become a miracle for the people around him begin to trust that God's time publish the hope that long-lost (Luke 1:65-66).
Approximately Baptist tasks such as preparation of the arrival of the President of the USA team as in the picture above. Why did John the Baptist who was appointed by God to prepare the way for Jesus Christ? before discussing the matter, the following is the story of John's life.

The Bible does not give enough information about what and how teenage life of John, but one explanation is sufficient for us to understand the life of John in the mentioned in Luke 1:80. "The child grew and became stronger spirit., And he lived in the wilderness until the day he had appeared unto Israel". The growth of a child who is really in God's life is very important to note. If we see a father and a mother who serves as priest descendants of Levi who become the law of God commands must be the basis of instruction for young John to grow. Why did John in the wilderness, as if to hide from the Israeli public? Because that is the call from the beginning. "For he will be great before the Lord, and he will not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother's womb" (Luke 1:15). A person who is sanctified by God's will in the midst of a broken world is to be led by God himself in his life. That's how he got this instruction from his father that the young John was still obedient to God's holiness, and keeping the states time to serve.

Birth of John the Baptist mentioned in the first chapter of Luke's Gospel.
Originally couple Elizabeth and Zechariah do not have children, because Elizabeth was barren. One day Zechariah duty burning incense in the temple. Suddenly, the angel Gabriel appeared to him and told him that God would grant her son to be named John, and many will rejoice at his birth. Children of Israel will be prepared to welcome the coming of the Messiah. Zechariah and Elizabeth did not believe it because he had advanced. Because of that he became mute until his son was born.
John is the messenger of God who preceded Jesus. Jesus said: "Among those born of women there has not anyone greater than John the Baptist." (Matthew 11:11). John's childhood was not much known, except when it was still in the womb of Elizabeth, he jumped for joy when Mary visited her mother's house.
Notice of the birth of John occurs when the priest Zechariah of the group Abia, perform duties in the temple. (Luke 1:5) Group of Abijah was the 8th of 24 groups of priests who take turns doing duty in the temple (1 Chronicles 24:7-18).There are experts who argue turn usually falls at the beginning of the month of Sivan in the Jewish calendar or the Gregorian calendar in June. Thus Elizabeth became pregnant in June or shortly thereafter.

If pregnancy begins in June, the expected birth of John the Baptist in March-April next year, according to the Gregorian calendar, which is about the Jewish Passover.
At about the age of 30 years John appeared as a preacher on the banks of the Jordan River and shouted, "Repent, the kingdom of God is at hand". Then people are willing to confess and be baptized by John. When people asked who he was he replied, "I am the voice crying in the wilderness, make straight the way of God! I indeed baptize you with water. But in the midst of you standeth one whom ye know not. Him who came later than me. Opens rope off his shoes were I do not deserve ". John has a lot of followers, including those who later became Jesus' chosen apostles. Jesus himself asked to be baptized by him. When was John exclaimed, "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" And the voice from Heaven cried out again, "Thou art my Son beloved Son, kepadaMulah I am well pleased".
Shortly after the baptism of Jesus, John was imprisoned for criticizing King Herod Antipas' marriage to Herodias, the wife of his cousin. At a party at the palace, Herod greatly rejoice over the dance Salome, daughter of Herodias, and promised to give him anything he asked. She was asked to Herodias Herodias demanded the head of John and Herod also ordered to behead John. This story is recorded in all three Synoptic Gospels: Matthew 14:1-12, Mark 6:14-29, and Luke 9:7-9

The ministry of John the Baptist
John the Baptist's ministry Understanding can not remove it from the plan of God in him from the beginning. "He will make a lot of the children of Israel turned to the Lord their God, and he will walk before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to make the hearts of the fathers turned to their children and the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous and the thus preparing for the Lord a people worthy of Him "(Lk 1:16-17). The words of Gabriel, the angel of the Lord is really making Zechariah was surprised because it was too big for him to understand.
At least there's only one John's vision is "to prepare for the Lord a people worthy of his" vision will be fulfilled with a primary mission of "Repentance is the people of God"! John truly become a special forces guard the President (Paspanpres) will ensure the readiness of the people of God as the President of heaven is coming. So understand this call John directly performed with a mature strategy to prepare God's people. He chose the area of the Jordan! Why Jordan? It was not because there was much water making it possible to hold a christening, or I'll bother ndak later when he needs water because of too much preaching. He chose Jordan as strategic territory! Imagine, if we look at our Bible Maps under the title Map of Palestine in the Age of Jesus will be visible location very strategic Jordan splitting Israel. Moreover in the area there is also the important cities of the future Jesus will come around, ranging from Nain, Cana, Nazareth, Gadara, Sychar, Jericho, Jerusalem, etc.. Besides this is the region of the Jordan is only frequented by the people of Israel on the Sabbath because they had to clean the clothes before celebrating the Lord's Sabbath.
There will be so many Israelis who gathered around the Jordan to prepare himself before heading to Jerusalem.Obviously, John uses the calculation of appropriate and effective in carrying out his calling. Just as prophecy since birth, repentance John really responi by Israel to the large number of people baptized members.

Mark 1:2-8 John the Baptist
John the Baptist's ministry or work briefly described in Mark 1:2-8, which tells us that John the Baptist fulfilled the prophecy of the coming of the others, namely that there will be a messenger of God who will prepare and preach the coming of the Son of God . In Isaiah 40:3, the prophecy said, The voice of one crying out: "In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God!" While Malachi 3:1, says, "Behold, I send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before the sudden the Lord whom you seek will enter his temple! Angel agreement you want it, in fact, he is coming, saith the Lord of hosts. ' John the Baptist carrying a large task, the 'prepare the way' for Jesus. How did John the Baptist prepared the way it was? Mark tells us that John the Baptist preached the word of two great truths: first, the necessity of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, and second, that the Lord Jesus is coming soon.

MEANING OF CONVERSION Mark 1:4
In verse 4, John preached about baptism, repentance and forgiveness of sins. Mark 1:4 says so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness and called: Repent and be baptized, and God will forgive your sins. The word repentance has several meanings as follows:
There should be a sense of sin in one's life. If a hospital does not realize that he was sick, then he will not seek help for themselves. He will remain ill and even become worse. Therefore, first we have to see that there is sin in ourselves and we have to do something about it. Romans 3:10 says, as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. While it is clearly also Romans 3:23 says all have sinned and have lost the glory of God. "
There should be a confession of the party who has committed the sin. This means that once we see no sin in us, we must agree that we are the ones who have done it. It is not good to blame others, including Satan, for all our sins. We must agree with God that we are guilty and deserve the right judgment.
After admitting that we have sinned, then shall appear the misery, the divine sorrow for our sins. It is not enough just to feel sad that our sins have made us suffer. We should also feel sad that our sins have made the Lord suffer too. Psalm 51:4 says Wash me thoroughly from iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!
There must be a willingness to turn around and leave our sins, so that we can follow the Lord. If we repent of our sins because we have caught these sins, then we are no better than a thief who will not repent. He's just going to feel sorry because he was caught stealing and he had to accept punishment for his actions were wrong. Someone is going to come back and return to his sin, if he was not sincere and honest in his conversion.

CONFESSION OF SIN before baptism Mark 1:5 - 6
In verse 5, we read that those who were baptized by John the first to admit their sins. Then came to him the people from all Judea and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and he admitted their sins in baptism in the Jordan. Only those who agree with God that they are the ones who have sinned and confess their sins to Him, who are ready to receive baptism. Read Romans 6:3-4. Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Thus we are buried together with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Paul says that baptism is a picture of the burial and resurrection. By entering our bodies in the water, it shows the death and burial of the old life. In the meantime, he lifted the body out of the water showed that we now live in Christ. This picture must have been done by someone who has been born again through faith in Jesus Christ. The only true picture of this experience is to incorporate believers into the water. Only those who have repented of their sins, believe in Christ, and are willing to follow Jesus in a new way of life, are eligible to receive baptism.

Why Baptizing?
line with the first call in Luke 1:16-17, the repentance of the people of God to be the only way to make a lot of people are enabled to respond God's grace in Christ, the Messiah. This question has also been asked by the professor in the Law that the priests of the tribe of Levi to John, but he replied "I am not Elijah, not the Christ but I baptize with water, but in the midst of you standeth one whom ye know, that he , who came after me. " John testified that he was only doing one sign of repentance before the coming of A commitment to a more authoritative king to do so. as if John says the one thing he wanted to do is to do something that made his heart Mr. happy and make other people's lives turn from his sin led to his Master. This is what he wants to convey. He did not do it all for the thrill-seeking to let everyone know that he was a prophet. He also boasted that he came up with the magic and the call of the angels of God so that people can admire and respect him. He just said "I, John, baptized because God wanted me to do it with the goal of making the people repented of his sins and glorify God."
The attitude of humility caution is that we should look up from John, at the time of our lives. Because life in the Lord means to serve Him with all our hearts. There will be many challenges and trials that make up into pride, complacency and arrogance eventually was born. But humility with his eyes fixed on the grace of God is the key to the success of the ministry of John the Baptist. John the Baptist so often people look at it, but this view is not complete with a view to see what God has for him. "He was the one, my servant, John his name, he is the father to her son's heart and the heart of the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous. So it is worth it I would call a big guy (success / severe) among all men".

John prophesied COMING OF THE LORD JESUS Mark 1:7-8
In verses 5-6 we read a lot about someone by the name of John the Baptist. Then came to him the people from all Judea and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and he confessed his sins were baptized in the Jordan River. John wore camel hair robes and leather belts, and diet of locusts and wild honey. Preaching of John the Baptist received great support because people know that his message is from God. Mark said that people all over Judea and Jerusalem came out to listen and be baptized by him (verse 5). John lived a life full of self-denial and sacrifice. He did not do it to impress others. He was more concerned about the message of God than where he should live. Clothing and food shows dependence on God and reminds many people of Elijah who live in the wilderness. The message is about the Holy One of God that is coming soon. John's life entirely dedicated to prepare the way for Jesus. In verse 7, John calls someone "is more powerful than I am., And in verse 8 he refers to Jesus as the one who would bring God's Holy Spirit. Having said that, John introduces us what it will be Jesus, the Son of God. In our study next, we'll see Jesus as introduced by Mark

More than anything, wanted to help the Holy Spirit in order that we always have high expectations. He wants us to know just how bright and beautiful paradise. He wants us to dream of the existence of a world with no poverty, no war, no hatred, and no sin. That is why He wants us to pray: "Come, Lord Jesus." (Rev. 22:20) Therefore let us each tell Jesus, that we gratefully thank Him because He has sent us the His prophets, saints of our predecessors who have prophetic voices, crying, Prepare the way of the Lord! "
